Globetrotting Broad
I may be from Texas, but I had to travel all the way to England to experience horse racing for the first time. Like most of the women at this historic event, and unlike most of the men, I was there almost strictly for the clothing and people watching. True to form, I bet a total of £3 (about $5) on the betting, the outfit had been planned and prepared weeks in advance...
And, no, I didn't yell, "Move your bloomin' arse..." ala Eliza Doolittle.
So, although I can't say I would ever intentionally attend another horse race, I'm glad I can say, "been there, done that." And, as I was able to attend the opening day of an event that has always been "at the height of the social season," and the day was perfect, the views were gorgeous, the people watching truly remarkable, I'd say it wasn't too bad!
